Perton Walkers Marvellous may meander

On Sunday 18 May 2008, join us for a gentle stroll in the countryside to the south of Swindon.

where it’s from!

Todays walk starts from the car park of The Green Man pub on the edge of the village of Swindon at 11am. Go through Wombourne to cross the Bridgnorth Road (B4176) at cross roads and follow Wombourne Road (more like a lane) into Swindon. Follow this road as it curves right through the village and is now the High Street. The pub is on the right over the canal bridge at the junction with Church Road. Turn right in to Church Road and immediately right into the car park, which is “behind” the pub.

Where We Walk

Walking just over three miles in one and a half hours, we go “down by the waterside and back up the bank”. There are no stiles, little mud- anybody can do this walk, and all are welcome.

Where We Wine and Dine

We wine and dine at The Green Man pub in which a traditional Sunday Roast meal may be enjoyed! Information on cost and additional menu listings is not available.

Perton Walkers Jewel of a June Walk In association with South Staffordshire Walking Festival

Perton Walkers are pleased to offer a walk on the morning of Sunday 8th June 2008 as part of  the third Walking Festival arranged by South Staffordshire Council

Please meet at (the later time for regulars) 11am on Perton Civic Centre car park for the start of this months walk. From The Parkway turn into Colridge Drive at the mini roundabout, pass Sainsburys petrol station and turn left into Church Road.  Where this road turns left, go ahead into the car park.  The Civic Centre is the large building at the left end of this car park.

On today’s walk, in a little over two hours, we will walk off Perton and back on again and in doing so will enjoy using some of the village paths threaded so pleasingly through the hidden bits of Perton.

Perton Walkers offer a walk each month, usually on the third Sunday, and the idea is that all who come on the walk will wish to prolong the convivial atmosphere over a pub lunch washed down with real ale or fine wine. After today’s walk, join the regular Perton Walkers in The Wrottesley Arms pub in the village centre for an aperitif and possibly lunch.
