Perton Walkers in 2010

Once a month we walk up hill and down dale –

Climb every mountain

Ford stony becks, Wade babbling brooks

Stride into the setting sun on field paths broad and narrow

(one of these days a walk will finish at the time intended)

Scale five bar farm gates

Force through hedges thick or thin

This year will be no different - unless the organiser chappie finally gets up to speed on map reading and navigation (and learnt to write poetry some might say) – in which case there will be a tad less hedge trashing!

Welcome to the cliché-cluttered countryside

that is the world of Perton Walkers

Most walks are two (or a little more) hours in time and approximately five or so miles in length.  Most walks start at a pub car park at about 11am and the idea is that all who come on the walk will wish to prolong the convivial atmosphere over a pub lunch washed down with real ale or fine wine.

The walks take place on the second or third Sunday of each month

(2010 dates in the table below). The Walk Information Leaflet issued for each walk provides just enough information to tempt the good hearted and boot footed and is available a week or so before the dates shown below.
